Esteemed colleagues, Esteemed future students, Business academy's Faculty of Law, Novi Sad, is a distinct institution for higher education which is based on the experience of a vast number of university professors, scientists, experts in the field of domestic and international law, and the law of European Union. In the environment of growing demands for opening of domestic economy, and integration with global scientific and economic trends, a need arises for our young experts to be trained to perform very complex tasks. Integration of countries in development and countries undergoing transition in traditional international institutions calls for a new approach to international position and diplomatic action. A very important issue is the ongoing trial for war crimes conducted on the territory of ex-Yugoslavia, in the ad-hoc tribunal in The Hague. We intend to enable students to hear the thoughts of experts in the fields of International criminal Law and International human rights Law, currently working as lawyers, judges and prosecutor in the International Court of Justice. This Faculty is not intended for a large number of students. Studies will be highly specialized, with three basic features: Besides theoretical work, an especially practical approach to studies, that makes graduates highly capable for work in the three covered by our studies. Tutoring approach and small groups of students involved in it will enable to start the process of directly linking our institution with national and international institutions of Law. National Justice Institutions and Law practices will be directly involved in student training and creation of our curriculum. Business academy's Faculty of law came about emerging from the growing need for experts in times of transition, and reanimation of market economy. The primary role of this Faculty is giving education aimed for the future. By developing the personalities of our students, we want to create intellectuals, which will not only be experts in their respective fields, but also strong human beings capable of contributing to general progress of national and international Law and Justice. Our teaching methods are interactive, interdisciplinary, and multimedial. We work in small groups and emphasize the development of management skills, and problem-solving capabilities. We shift the balance from insisting on “learning by heart” towards profound understanding of processes and phenomenon in the modern business world. Our modern curriculum will be taught by over 50 eminent experts both domestic, and from abroad. Our studies feature:
Our curriculum is made after modern study concepts, which include individual setting of study course through optional courses and subjects. Our curriculum is compliant with current trends of reforms pertaining higher education in Europe. Key goals of our programs are: Giving students fundamental knowledge in the fields of National and International Law Giving students knowledge about newest stands and grasps regarding Law Practical use of gained knowledge Business academy's Faculty of Law will in compliance with the Bologna Process, use European Credit Transfer System (ECTS). ECTS represents overall work and utilization of a student during the course of one academic year, and subsequently the whole undergraduate studies. The Faculty will implement ECTS and follow the progress of each student individually. Elements of ECTS will be drawn from the elements emerging from the nature of each course, direction of studies, curriculum, and other elements valued by other similar faculties, in order to make transition to another institution as easy as possible for our students. Degree of utilization of that program will be applied in the teaching practice. ECTS presents a unified measure of students involvement in academic activities and academic achievement, which will be used to define the work necessary to achieve the goals presented by a certain course, whole academic year and the four-year program. Curriculum will be created in compliance with the credit system, and the value of each credit will be determined precisely. Credit system is based on the credits representing the involvement of each student in tackling a certain study program (60), which each student needs to earn in one academic year. ECTS credits are a value between 1 and 60 credits, which is assigned to an individual course. These credits represent the involvement of each student in acquiring a certain amount of teaching material. It will depict the amount and completeness of work that each individual course in order to complete a whole academic year. This includes lectures, practical work, exercises, seminars, project, fieldwork, exams etc. Work needed to accomplish this will not exceed 8 classes a day, over a five-day week, which amounts to 40 classes per week. This means that the number of credits earned in a semester will be in direct proportion with the number of hours each student spends attending the lectures, preparing for an exam, writing papers or taking part in projects. Optional subjects will also be awarded credits in the same way as compulsory ones. ECTS will enable students to transfer their credits during the course of studies, in a way that by moving to another similar institution here or abroad, a student will also be able to transfer their credits and accumulate them. Undergraduate studies of Business academy's Faculty of Law are four-year studies that carry the total of 240 credits (4 years * 60 credits). Postgraduate studies include master studies which carry 60 credits + 180 credits for PhD studies, amounting to 240 credits. Dean Prof. Dr Aleksandar Ignjatovic top of the page |
